Dancers / Choreographers
We are looking for choreographers to join our team. Under the supervision of the Dance Captain, you will create and teach choreography to be part of an online production of Much Ado About Nothing. You will be teaching members of the cast, some of whom may have little to no previous dance experience.
For more information, view the Google Jamboard of the Dancers/Choreographing strand here.
There are three dances in total, one of which will be undertaken by the Dance Captain. The other two are...
1. The Mask Song - Involving the entire cast. A piece with many different parts and involving partner work positioned in Act 2 Scene 1. This will be collaboratively choreographed with the Dance Captain.
2. Pre-Wedding Movement - positioned between Act 3 and Act 4, a piece that includes Beatrice, Margaret, Ursula and Hero. Not very dancy but involves natural movement of changing into clothes, making flower bouquets and getting ready for a wedding.
We are looking for dancers of any gender and any dance background, although a more jazz or contemporary style is preferred.
We will be looking for outgoing and creative individuals with a good grounding in technique and can adapt to changing schedules as rehearsals progress. You will need skills and previous experience in creating and teaching choreography and need to have the ability to teach and lead warmups via online video rehearsals.
How do I audition?
Please send a one to two minute self-tape video of yourself dancing a piece you have choreographed. The video can be in any style of dance of your choice, and style. It doesn't matter if it is not professionally produced as we just want to see you dance. Please either upload your self-tape submission to YouTube or to Google Drive and send the link to queershakespeareproject@gmail.com
Alongside this, please fill out this form here.
